I remember the excitement of marrowbone curry. Whenever our parents bought marrowbones, we children would be hovering around the kitchen and waiting for dinner to be announced. In those days, the butcher gave the bones free of cost and there was always more than enough for the whole family. My Mum even had a few marrowbone spoons amongst her cutlery to dig out the delicious treats. We were also fortunate enough to have it every year when we visited our grandparents home during the holidays. Now a days hardly anyone eats or knows about marrowbone curry and my children were never exposed to it as frequently for us. On the rare occasions that I am fortunate enough to be get marrowbones, it is a nostalgic trip down memory lane even if I have to pay extra for it!
