The Wise Woman’s Pomegranate Orange Salat

Salat is the Hebrew word for Salat and is a delicious salat comprising 4 ingredients. I called it The Wise Woman’s Pomegranate Orange Salat to honour my late Mum. I like to think that the Wisemen were wise because of the women who brought them up and the extraordinary women they must have met on their way. And according to a story I read moons ago, there was a fourth Wiseman, hence 4 ingredients are used.

Salads are a big thing in our house and everyone devours them by the bowlful. We make salads with all kinds of everything.  Pomegranates were very popular in Biblical times and so were dates. I came across a version of this recipe on https://www.pinterest.com/   and was eager to try it out.  The fourth ingredient that I added was mint. This is because I have a lot of it growing in a pot.

Believe it or not, The Wise Woman’s Pomegranate Orange Salat was the first dish to vanish and I wish I had made more. It’s an easy, pretty and colourful dish that any hostess would be proud of.

NB: Gently crush the mint in your hands before you add it to the Salat. This releases the oils and fragrance . Your Salat will smell wonderful.
