The Second Recipe For Christmas /Buah Buah Aachar
The Second Recipe For Christmas / Buah Buah Aachar celebrates my adopted country, Malaysia. It is a traditional Malaysian recipe and a must for Christmas especially with all the rich food around. It is a kind of Mixed Fruit relish made with a combination of crunchy, salty, sweet preserved fruits available in abundance everywhere. It goes well with any kind of cuisine, and tastes good by itself too. We found it served at practically all the celebrations we have been invited to and is irresistible.
I found out that it was a knock out with any kind of rice and can be made in many different ways. Try out my version of The Second Recipe For Christmas / Buah Buah Aachar and get addicted to it, like me.
I first tasted this at a friend’s house during Deepavali. She passed away a couple of years ago. In fact when I asked her where to buy a good combination of fruits, she turned up with a bag of these for me to turn into pickle along with her recipe. Whenever I see these fruits in the Night Market and malls I think of her and how she introduced me to a truly Malaysian dish which I absolutely love.
It is now an annual treat at my house.
