The Recipe For Easy Steamed Fish/Steamed Pomfret
The Ingredients For Easy Steamed Fish/Steamed Pomfret:
4 small pomfrets, clean, wash thoroughly and drain
2 stalks spring onions
1 inch ginger cut into slivers
1 inch ginger, minced
2 tbsp olive oil
salt to taste
Sauce: 4 tbsp light soy sauce; 8 tbsp water; 1 tsp brown sugar
Method For Easy Steamed Fish/Steamed Pomfret
Cut the spring onions ( green part) lengthwise and mince the white part. Keep each in separate bowls.
Mix the sauce ingredients together and keep aside till required.
Make one slit on each side of the fish, so that it cooks easily. Sprinkle salt on all the fish and if required use your hands to rub it in . Place some slivered ginger inside each of the fish. Sprinkle some ( reserve some for garnish and sauce) green and white spring onions on the bottom of an oiled pyrex dish. Place the fish on top and sprinkle the minced ginger on top of the fish.
Place the pyrex dish on rack in steamer and cover. Steam for 7 to 10 minutes. Check whether fish is cooked by inserting a skewer through the centre of the fish. If it comes out clean, the fish is done.
Next heat the olive oil in a small pan and stir fry remaining ( about 1 tsp) white spring onions for about 20 seconds. Add soy sauce and bring to the boil. Remove from heat and pour over the steamed fish. Garnish with green spring onions and serve hot immediately.
