Easy Roasted Garlic / How To Roast Garlic In The Oven

#cookwithruth

Many years ago, a Russian friend brought us some biriyani made with dried, salted mutton and whole roasted garlic bulbs. The biriyani was out of this world, but none of us could eat the roasted garlic bulbs. I guess we were just not used to eating it. We ground, minced or crushed it and added it to all our food biriyani included. Fifteen years down the line, easy roasted garlic is one of our favourites and we use it in salads, as a spread or just eat it plain. Things have certainly changed.

So, when someone sent me a video on roasted garlic, I googled it and came across many versions of how to Roast Garlic in the oven. Visit the link below for an easy version of roasted garlic.

The Recipe:

4 bulbs garlic; 1/4 cup olive oil;salt to taste; foil to wrap garlic bulbs

Preheat oven to 200 Celcius or 400 F. Select your garlic bulbs carefully. I chose large ones. Peel off the outer layer of the bulb and with a sharp knife cut off about 1/4 inch from the top so that the garlic cloves are exposed. Place the bulbs on some foil ( enough to wrap completely as in image above) cut side up. Drizzle olive oil over and fold the foil to completely cover the garlic bulbs. Place on baking tray and bake for 40 to 45 minutes until cloves are nice and brown and gooey. Cool, sprinkle salt and herbs if required ( I used coriander) and eat plain or spread on bread or in your salads.

Garlic is delicious and easy to add to your diet. You can use it in savory dishes, soups, sauces, dressings and more. For thousands of years, garlic was believed to have medicinal properties. Science has now confirmed it.

And that is why I make it as often as I can !
