These are the best combination ever.  Drizzle some ginger honey over them and you will be in gastronomical heaven.  I know I am because sometimes the simple desserts are the best. And nowadays, I prefer to make simple, baked desserts that take practically no time with a minimum of fuss and bother. So, I got some figs from a friend and was saving it for a special occasion. That was a couple of days ago.  I also had some cream cheese that was languishing in the fridge.  I have started replacing sugar with honey whenever I can and the result was heavenly. You can just about forget your manners and lick the thick, gooey juice with your fingers in ecstasy. That’s what I do whenever we eat this fabulous combination.

The Recipe:

This recipe celebrates figs with cream cheese, a recipe that I got long ago and have been dreaming of making. All it needed were fresh figs. And they suddenly appeared out of the blue. So of course I had to make it. Incidentally, this makes an excellent topping for any kind of cake.

The original recipe is from  https://www.nortonsdairy.co.uk/baked-figs

My Version:

What I made is my twist on the classic dessert.

4  fresh figs; 50g cream cheese; 2 tbsp ginger honey; 1 tsp almond nibs; fresh mint

Wash and dry the figs. Quarter the figs carefully ( with a sharp knife) down to about two thirds of their height and gently open them as in the image.  Place in baking tray and put 1tbsp cream cheese in the middle of each fig. Drizzle each fig with 1/2 tsp honey.  Bake in a preheated oven at 200 Celcius/ 390 F for 10minutes, until the figs soften and the juice runs out. Drizzle some more honey over the figs, add some almond nibs and mint on top. Serve immediately as it is or with vanilla ice cream as we did.  Oven Baked Figs With Cream Cheese And Honey is simply superb.
