Chinese New Year Recipes 2024

One of the festivals we really enjoyed after moving to Malaysia was Chinese New Year.  Also called the Spring Festival, Lunar New Year in China marks the traditional start of the agricultural season. The date of Lunar New Year varies slightly from year to year, this year kicking off on  February 10, the Year of the Dragon – said to be a very lucky year in Chinese astrology.  In Chinese culture,  the Dragon symbolises talent, power and excellence meaning 2024 is forecast to be a year for change, opportunity and challenges. The variety of food, the sweet, juicy oranges, the dragon dance, colourful lanterns and Yee Sang (prosperity toss salad) were all very interesting and fun to experience.  The best part was being invited to participate in the traditional Chinese New Year eve family dinner every year.  We ate traditional food that was delicious and I managed to collect quite a few recipes over the years. I am sharing some amazing Chinese New Year Recipes for those of you who’d care to try, since Chinese New Year is around the corner.  Gong Xi Fa Cai ( “Wish you enlarge your wealth“)!  Happy New Year.
