Pictorial for Cauliflower Baked Whole

Cauliflower Baked Whole has been on my bucket list for quite a while.  My quest for the right size, enough for two people finally bore fruit and last week I decided to make it.  I have made Cauliflower Baked Whole before with a green masala and with a red masala.  However, I was not satisfied with the photos I took.  This time, my Baked Whole Cauliflower actually looked like a cauliflower when baked.  And so ladies and gentlemen, I give you my Cauliflower Baked Whole.

Recipe For Cauliflower Baked Whole

1 cauliflower about 300gms

Marinade:

½ tsp turmeric powder

1.5 tsp garlic powder

½ tsp ginger powder

1 tsp freshly ground pepper powder

1/2 tsp pink Himalayan salt to taste

1.5 tbsp olive oil

1/8 cup water

For Brushing:

1 tsp ghee

Method:

Turn the cauliflower upside down and gently cut away the centre core without breaking the cauliflower.  See my image to know how it should look.  Soak in salt (1 tsp salt) water to cover for 20 minutes.  Drain completely and pat dry.  Whisk the marinade ingredients together.  Brush baking pan with oil and place the cauliflower head down (as in image) in the pan.  Pour the marinade over the cored cauliflower and wait a few minutes. Next, turn it over and brush the liquid that spills over in the pan all over the top of the cauliflower.  Cover pan with foil and bake in a pre-heated oven at 225C /437F (Formula 225°C × 9/5 + 32 = 437°F) for 40 minutes or until skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.  Rest 10 minutes.  Remove foil and brush the top with ghee.  Slice and serve hot.  This is really yum.

The Reveal:

Feast your eyes and salivate.  This looks good, smells wonderful and tastes delicious.  Makes you want to try!
